I love the effect on the darkness. Was that using a resist, a mask or wicking the paint out?

Masking fluid before painting the dark tendrils. Once the paint was dry it was erased, bringing out the pattern of white paper.

Drawing and painting with actual paints is something I don't do very often, so in all honestly any 'technique' of mine is really just a series of trial and error. X3
Some work out, some don't. I'm pleased with this effect, though, it did come close to what I had hoped for. ^^d

I'll probably take up more traditional painting up ahead - we're moving to a bigger place, and I'll finally get to have a proper workspace (sans cats getting in the paint). So playing around with fun techniques will likely be fun.
